It’s a year already???!!! Oh my god we must be besties then because it’s only been a blink of an eye. I remember when.. all of it and have enjoyed getting to read and more importantly feel your stories and tellings. Thanks for letting me show up late to many of your writings. But I catch up. Happy Anniversary darling Mike. Xo

This was absolutely wonderful! I read it on dark, cold morning that has brought our first frost. With a warm cup of Joe in hand, I felt the warmth of your kitchen and your heart. Thank you for opening your warm, messy kitchen to all of us. Congratulations on year 1 and look forward to year 2!

This post & comments reminds me of the Twitter thread you had pre-pandemic about how you wanted to do a road trip to meet your followers/community. Reading those & these restores my faith in all of us who care about our communities

Happy Flanniversary,

Thank you for inviting us to the table.

We will be here waiting excited for whatever dish you serve. They are all

very tasty and filling. You have conjured

memories I had long forgotten. It's been

a rough year. I appreciate my seat at the

table. It gives me a sense of home.

I love reading the comments and sharing the joys. How each person takes a different light to a story. The sense of community and seat at the table. Love you all! 💞💞💞

Thank you for every Flan!

Another great entry and happy “being a writer” anniversary. I look forward to your writings but will confess, sometimes it takes me a while to find the time to sit and read, but when I do, I binge read you. Thanks for making me laugh, cry and think about things in a deeper more meaningful way. I am grateful for you.

I subscribe to you because I like how you write. Will it be perfect all the time? No. And I don't expect that. We are all loving that you've invited us to your table and are regaling us with these stories. You've made all of us laugh, cry and nod our heads in commiseration. I don't know if you hear this enough, Mike, but you ARE a writer. A damn good one.

This reminds me of some of the more vivid scenes from The Bear... This is just too funny - a trifecta of hilarious food/chef stories that made me laugh. With a year in the books, so to speak, here’s wishing you many more, which means many more years of fun for us, your readers. Congrats!

Well, sorry I’m late to the party, y’all. Happy Anniversary! I haven’t commented much lately but that’s just as things have been busier on my end. Right now I can’t just drop what I’m doing when a Substack post drops. I still enjoy them, and having a seat at this table.

I always look forward and appreciate whatever you "cook"! I'm glad you took the leap and started the Substack. You inspire me to do the same. Congratulations on year 1. It went by fast!!

Your generosity of spirit is the thing you share with those willing to join you at your table. Read that, YOUR TABLE. It is your invitation to share in the thing you create, the message you have in your heart and mind, and the generosity of your spirit that you so willingly share with the world. The critical commenter, does not deserve your generosity or one more moment of your time. Your table is a place with warmth, hospitality, humor, and sometime the messiness of life. It is always shared authentically and with love and humility, which is why so many wish to have a moment at your table for takeout or even beloved ramekins. Thank you for your generosity of spirit, your humility, your warmth. It has offered moments of connection, understanding, and empathy. You, have made the world better for sharing yourself.
